I have been away. I have been a little busy but the last time that I was on here I said that I was doing the yarn braids and I started doing about 5 of them and I quit. I wasn't feeling it at all at the time but I did measure the yarn and cut it so some time this week I will make another attempt at it. I really need to do a protective style. Friday was my birthday and I had a wonderful time. I will upload the pictures later.
See you guys later!
Welcome
Welcome to Love & Nappiness. I'm new to this but we will go on this journey together. I will show what I know and I would love for you to share what you know or ask any question that you want the answer to. I will not be buying a lot of products and reviewing them because this is geared towards people that don't have the means to do so as I am that way. This is my journey to Love & Nappiness so grab your pick and favorite moisturizer and lets grow together.

Hello
I'm putting in yarn braids after I said that I wouldn't. I have hands in head syndrome so I think that I need to do a protective style for a little while. I will show pictures when I am done.
See ya soon!

My first wash and go with Eco Styling Gel. Loved it!!!
I have been natural since August 2010 and I had yet to do a wash and go.After purchasing the Eco I decided that it was time to go for it.I washed my hair with the Tressemme shampoo and conditioner and left some conditioner on my hair and applied the Eco. Let me tell you, I love it. So today I spritzed it with my mixture of water, leave in conditioner and olive oil and this will be my second day wash and go.If you haven't tried it you should cause I love my hair.

My mini haul from CVS and Sally Beauty Supply
In keeping with not spending a whole lot I purchased some hair products. Although I have made the decision to go natural I have decided to still dye my hair.I don't dye often but I do dye my hair. My head is almost completely gray.
Here goes: The CVS in the next town over always has sales on hair accessories. So I went there thinking that I could find some cute ones and they had none but what I did find was hair dye for $1.75 a box(screaming).
And I also needed some shampoo and conditioner. Tresemme had shampoo and conditioner on sale 2 for $7.00(screaming).
I got a sales paper from Sally's and I have never tried Eco styling gel but that is all the rave on youtube. Well Sally's has it for $2.99 until March 31st(screaming)
And last but not least was my African shea butter for $14.00. Loves it. We use it for everything so that is why I went over my $10.00 threshold. until next time. See ya later!

Today's Hair
This was my hair from today. I took my girls to see the Justin Bieber movie and I loved it. I mean WE loved it. But I went to Sally's and CVS yesterday. Did a little haul. I'm not a big shopper and I said in the beginning I will not be buying any items that are more than $10.00 and I plan to stick to that. I will show them in a picture. I will say that I paid $14.00 for my shea butter but we all use it and we use it for our body also.
But I flat twisted my hair in the front and twisted the back with shea butter and picked my hair a little this morning. The headband came from CVS for $.75.

Two strand twist out.
I thought that I would have kept my twists in longer than this but I decided to take them out since I guess I have nothing better to do. I really like it and I swear it seems to be longer than when I twisted it up the other day. It is probably just me thinking that though(lol). I have also been contemplating putting my yarn braids in as a protective style until May 1st. It is just a thought though because I don't know about sitting there braiding my hair for that many hours. I'm really loving my hair so I don't think that I wanna get rid of my own hair for 2 months. So here is a picture of my twist out. I hope that you can see it!

My first blog post!!! YAY ME!!!
So I'm sitting here with Avocado, honey and an egg in my hair and I'm thinking about what I'm going to write about. Well here goes...I big chopped in August of 2010 and I cut it to about 1/2 inch. I was nervous but that wasn't my first time big chopping. I did it once before in 2008 and was natural for about 5 months. I know, I know that was really weak but I was going through some things and I just didn't feel good at the time with my natural hair. As soon as I permed it I regretted it. That was the worst mistake to me. But look how long it took me to come to my senses again! My cousin big chopped and then another friend big chopped and I decided that I would start all over again. Here I am 6 months later and I'm loving every minute of it.
The other night I was doing some homework and I got a message on FB to my phone and it was a former classmate that I hadn't talked to in 20 years asking me about natural hair and I couldn't believe that I actually had the answers to her questions. I told her that I swear by Shea Butter and Curl Activator Gel. My hair stays so moist and healthy. I will always use Shea Butter and I will not be out there trying to buy a whole bunch of products to make my hair conform to everyone else's. My hair is me and I am my hair, naturally. I will be documenting what works for me and I will not purchase anything more than $10.00 unless I buy something in bulk.
Feel free to comment or give tips on hair maintenance. I will be posting pictures and recipes that I use for my hair. If I find some accessories I will post where I got them. This should be so interesting and I will make every effort to update regularly.
Thanks so much for joining me,
Riqui :0)
